One the important things when using a walker or a mobility aid are the "cues," which to me are the head messages that one sends to oneself. This video talks about the external and internal cues that can help a person. The video is aimed at people who have Parkinson's, but it deals with others, too.
Stuy Town Walker
This blog is for people using mobility aides like walkers, canes, rollators, wheelchairs, and electric aides. It is focused on Stuy Town (and Peter Cooper), but is for anyone with those issues or knows of someone who does.

Info That May Be Helpful
She talks a mile a minute and, being British, she has an accent, but this can be good for people who have problems walking and particularly those who have a medical issue. Embarrassment is a real issue for some, if not for all, and embarrassment is just keeping a person down, mentally and physically. Go out, if you can. Be active, if you can. Even what seems like an insignificant amount will help.

Those Heavy Doors
One problem that I have is the anti-wind heavy building doors in Stuy Town. I'm passably okay with using my upper strength and leaning into the door with my outstretched hand, but this can be a pain in the ass. I almost fell when a person, who I didn't see, tried to help me by pushing the door while I was opening it. My balance was gone. A lot of times, people who go in and out see me coming and hold the door open, for which I am thankful. But those heavy door can be a problem. This video clip has another strategy.

Walking
Walking is one of the best exercises and healthy. Unfortunately, since a major fall, I've lost the ability to walk as I used to. I use a walker these days, but I would like to get better with my walk. These exercises should help.

Selling It?
I will probably try to sell my Miracle Mobility Electric Walker/Wheelchair. Yesterday, I took it for a ride around Stuy Town and almost fell and hurt my knee from a huge pothole on ST's border. I wasn't able to get out, until I struggled and pushed myself. This kind of trouble is NOT why I got this mobility aid. Great inside Stuy Town, but once outside, troubles can start, though this area is probably still in the hands of ST/Beam Living. There is a slight interest on my part in taking this "on the streets," but I can't say I'm looking forward to that. I don't live in a small town, don't have a house, etc. I wanted something that is useful in the big city and pleasant. Ha! So, it may be back to a regular walker....

This is What I Got
Or close to it. Looks the same, but with only one battery. Still working out the details. Must take it, not just in my area, but outside, in the city streets. Warmer weather tells me the time is close!

One of My Favorite Vblogs Does the Mobility Ride!
Part of my amusement and interest is watching a couple of vblogs. I was pleasantly surprised seeing this on one of them. Good grades, but it is larger than a small electric mobility aid that I am interest in. And, yes, everyone wants a ride on this! Now, when do I leave Stuy Town and head over to Pattaya?
